I don't think the breeders on this list who have been participating in this discussion are the ones who say "too bad you lose" - most are perfectly aware of the uncertainty regarding a puppy's eventual quality, make their buyers aware of this and are genuinely trying to breed good dogs. I don't think any of them are in the "$3000 for a pet" category. Certainly I have never sold a puppy for $3000 in either US or Australian currency. By the way Glenn, you never emailed me off list to find out what I do if a puppy doesn't turn out.........just to put your mind at rest and so that you don't make too many wrong assumptions about me, I have not sent many dogs to the States, and most of those have been mature dogs of two years old or more, health tested before leaving here, never 12 week old puppies. A number have been quite successful and have given much joy to their owners. But even with adult dogs, things can go wrong. I have replaced a bitch with an Australian champion bitch for no cost except for travel expenses. ( I suppose as she was already a champion, she did undoubtedly qualify as "show quality") I am also refunding in full the purchase price of a bitch who did leave here as a 6 month puppy and two years later has not come up to expectations of the owner. So its always best to try and find out information before making assumptions...........as I have said before, you only have to ask...........
