Dyslexia probably affects 5-10% of the population. My brother-in-law, a physician, is dyslexic. He is almost 60 years old, has had years of schooling and countless hours of reading and continuous education, and still spells Wednesday "Wensday". (Fortunately, most of his patients can't read his hand-writing.) I moderate a couple other lists, and often change the spelling for some of the people who write to the list -- people I know to be very intelligent, but who would not be perceived that way by the average person reading their email.
