I had a pregnant mom with this, so steroids could not be used. She could only open her mouth one inch and her head was swollen, eyes bulging slightly. My vet termed it Eosinophilic Myositis. The answer for her was Aquapuncture. She was cured with one treatment and never had another problem. Delivered the pups and all were fine. She later had some muscle atrophy around her eyes, but after about 6 months it had gone away. She is 10 years old now and fit as can be.
Aquapuncture is instead of just using a needle in the points, the Dr. injected a B-12 and sterile water solution into each of 12 points. He also said that the points he did in her rear legs would actually help to release up to 300% of her body's own natural steroids. It worked for her!
