According to the things I have read, it is better to spay before the first season. After the first season, the bitch will develop breast tissue which will put her at a higher risk later in life for breast cancer. If you spay prior to the first season, they will not develop breast tissue. I don't really have an opinion, but this is what I have read. Myra
