Hi, List,
At long last I've come to the end of a trial with Red Barn dog food,
and have found it to be lacking. My dogs all look lacklustre in coat
and I'm disheartened so have discontinued using it. It was darned
expensive, but we rationalized that if it worked it would be worth it.
My search for the diet which is closest to home COOKED goes on.
Frankly, my dogs never looked better than when I cooked for them myself
and honestly I find it very difficult and even more expensive to do
that. So, I am trying Back To Basics after seeing the results of some
breeder trials with it, but also want to add something to it which will
most simulate the home cooked diet.
I am not a fan of additives, but rather talking some fresh food. In
talking to the nutritionists at Back To Basics they very candidly say
that there is no better diet than a home cooked one, but that their
product is a complete nutritional diet and what they all do themselves
is to add fresh raw vegetables. Do any of you use Back to Basics and if
so, what fresh foods would you add? I'm guessing nothing with high
protein, as it contains a good deal of usable protein already.
Any thoughts?
Please no BARF answers; with due respect, that isn't the information
which I am seeking, though I respect all of you who use the BARF diet.
thanks in advance,
Suze
