Sandra, the puppy play pens are VERY big, even when folded, awkward to
manage and heavy. They're really meant for almost permanent
installation, not for travel. And they must be set up square, not like
an expen that you can shift around a bit to fit the space. People don't
use them for week-old puppies, except as something to put a half
vari-kennel or whatever in to confine the mom as well as the pups. They
have a floor grate that's fine for older pups but won't work for little
puppies. I think for the cabin you'd probably be best off with a
vari-kennel bottom. If you need to confine the mom with the pups, and
keep the kids away, you could also bring along an expen.

>>>>>>>The reality of it is that I'm probably only going to
need it for less than a week when the family makes its
summer migration to our mountain cabin - with week old
babies. So I don't need a top o'the line model with all
the bells and whistles; but I don't want it to fall
apart after a few days. (And I will undoubtedly
occasionally use it down the road, even though I already
have a wonderful corrugated whelping box that I store in
a box!) It's for a Cavalier, so a mere 16 pounds of mom
and hopefully 5 or 6 babies; so would people recommend a
36" x 24" or a 36" x 36"?? Is a top necessary?
