A few weeks ago, my veterinarian called to tell me about a patient that purchased a cavalier puppy at a local pet store. The puppy had pneumonia and was returned to the pet store. The family was reimbursed with the guarantee if the puppy survived they would repurchase it as they had already fallen in love with it. Well, unfortunately, ten days later the puppy died. After the puppy died, my vet gave my number to the family. I spoke to them and relayed some of the information I have gained by reading this board over the last 2 1/2 years. I also gave her the name of 2 breeders that I have first hand experience with, and I feel comfortable recommending.
While at Penny's visit to the vet today, he mentioned that the family was thinking of buying an Irish Import. I know I've heard that many of the Irish Imports are brokers similar to our puppy mills. I gave him as much info as I had, and he was going to forward it to the family. He doesn't want the family to get into another situation like the last. I'm wonder, though, that surely there are some reputable breeders from Ireland. I know she's going to be calling, so I need your help. If anyone is familiar with any reputable Irish breeders, I'd love to pass that information on. I'd love to be able to say, "Yes, Mrs. O'D has a great line of dogs and is know for her care and testing........" Please email me privately if you can help.
