To reiterate what Susan Cochran said:

The problem with Irish imports is not that they come from Ireland. It is
because they come from brokers. The ONLY people who sell to brokers are
'commercial' type puppy farms whether they be large scale like our puppy
mills or small scale like our backyard breeders. The brokers are not buying
from reputable breeders because no reputable breeder would sell to a broker.
They are buying purely from people who are breeding to supply a 'product' to
sell to the public--i.e. to sell to the brokers who bring them here to
resell to unsuspecting buyers. The way in which the broker puppies were
bred is identical to the puppy mills here with the exception that a few of
them are brought up in a situation where the puppies are socialized. But
otherwise much the same--same poor quality breeding stock, same lack of
testing, same lack of knowledge of the breed standard and usually extreme
lack of understanding of proper diet. I say this because of the 20 or so
Irish imports I've seen, there is no doubt in my mind that the majority of
them were malnourished as youngsters--so many have twisted, spindly legs and
move in a very strange way.

And note--MANY buyers have gotten extremely ill puppies from these brokers.
I know of several who sued the broker and won and many others who had HUGE
medical bills the first week the puppy came home.

They can buy a nice puppy from a reputable Irish breeder--but they will have
to call that breeder and deal directly with that breeder themselves! Why
not call breeders in the U.S. instead?
