Not only is it a sport, but I like to view the dogs who are competing as athletes. Anybody who owns a dog who goes into the breed ring in the morning and still has to be as fresh and energetic when he returns to the toy group ring in the afternoon understands the concept of keeping them in good physical shape, just like any other athlete.
