I never said that I agreed with the old club policies. On the contrary, I
resigned from the old club in 1995 after being a member in good standing for
14 years. I saw no reason to have two sets of registration papers on one
dog.

However, the old club encouraged and formented the anti AKC furor. It
backfired on them badly. Instead of having the cachet of being the parent
club, they are now the out-group. Breeder members are a very self-interest
orientated bunch. This has put the old club in a bind. They want to continue
to have the revenues and the elitist mentality, but that is changing as the
numbers of AKC only Cavaliers grows. Eventually, there will be more AKC only
Cavaliers than dual registered ones and then the fight for combining the
gene pools will really be on.

There is nothing that the old club provides that requires a separate
registry. The only reason for the registry is to increase the old club
treasury.

All the best,
Susan Cochran
