Hi, Rosanne -- Actually it's Myra that uses the oxiclean on her dogs, so I
got the tip from her. I have successfully used it to help get Zephyr's
slippers and tip of her tail white. When she first came to us they were
pretty discolored. I mixed up 2 batches in bowls with warm water and when
the stuff had fully dissolved I stood her feet in the bowls and let them soak
there for about 10 minutes. If I had been more enterprising, I would have
done all 4 feet at once, but instead spent the 20 minutes talking and petting
her. I then thoroughly rinsed, gave her a bath and used Pentane conditioner
heavily on her feet. Since my hand was in the bowls most of the time too so
that I could agitate and rub her fur, I realized that all it did was get my
fingers really clean (no more gardening grubby nails <grn>) and did not make
my hand all nasty and dried out. Her feet were noticeably whiter---as was
her tail tip. I've only done this 3 times since February -- not sure I would
do it regularly, but it did make her feet look better. I'm sure Myra will
give you better info.
