Hi, All -- Please indulge me for re-opening this discussion; I only recently
have returned home from work and gotten my fingers on a computer with
internet service that works....
Since I was the first one that first responded to the query about
Oxiclean, and because I don't want people like Winnie or Barb or others --
all of whom I have great respect for their knowledge and love of our little
dogs -- to think that I abuse my puppies...
I only used the Oxiclean AFTER testing it on myself. I was extremely
careful in mixing it because any powdered detergent/cleaning product can be
harmful if inhaled in it's powder form. I mixed it as per the directions on
the container, using the lowest portion of powder recommended. My hands were
in the two 3-cup bowls twice as long as Zephyr's hairy discolored feet
because she has 4 feet which were dunked only 2 feet at a time and I only
have 2 hands (follow THAT logic?). And, I only used this product twice on
her, with more than a month between each treatment.
Also, there was no way she could get the solution in any other part of
her body since she was standing in the kitchen sink with 2 feet in bowls in
one sink and her body and other feet in the other sink...(it's a good thing I
don't wash too many dishes in these sinks, according to my sainted
mother-in-law).
It cleaned the nasty pink/yellow stains, my hands didn't feel dry or
burning and her foot pads seem healthy and normal.
Even though I'm an art historian and history museum administrator, I
took a great deal of chemistry in high school and college. I've handled many
chemicals that were much more alkaline than this stain remover even begins to
be... I was using it wisely. The only thing that happened was that
Zephyr's slippers (and tip of her tail) got whiter and my hands got cleaner.

Actually, I find some of the herbal remedies and supplements much
scarier to use than this Oxiclean product. which I still recommend for an
OCCASIONAL use if needed.
       Thanks for listening...
