Hi, everyone; These virii are NOT coming through the listserv/Cavalier list, but they ARE coming from individuals that are/have been subscribed to the list. The virus (in the infected computer) harvests addresses from the email address book (usually Outlook), and sends the virus out to those email addresses, as if coming from the person. That's part of the trick of the virus, it *seems* to come from someone 'safe', that we know! Never mind that we're all suspicious these days, as well we should be.
The best bet is to not open something you're not sure of, especially if you have no way of knowing if it's a jpg/gif, or an "exe" - which is an executable and often the virus. Right now the current virus has a total "package" of approximately 69kb, so when you get 20 emails that are each 69kb, you can be pretty dang sure they're infected! (Which is what I just deleted from my mailbox!) My advice is to get an email client that shows you what you have in an email before you open it. And, again, although it's a great email client, Outlook is what's usually targeted! FWIW, Sandra S. L.
