I see nothing inherently wrong with Cavalier crosses--so long as both
parents are well bred, *show* quality, sound dogs, are tested clear of
inherited defects and have good temperaments. In other words so long as the
breeding is as carefully done as any show breeder would do I see nothing
wrong with it.

However, if one had a well bred, *show* quality, sound Cavalier that was
tested clear of inherited defects and had a good temperament--they are
highly unlikely to want to breed that dog to a dog of a different breed as
the price they could get for the cross-bred puppies would obviously be less
than for the purebreds!

So the real problem is that the parents of these crosses are usually poorly
bred, poor quality and not tested for inherited defects. For them breeding
a Cavalier cross is simply a sales tactic to help them sell their poor
quality puppies more easily--not because they are trying to breed healthier
puppies.
