I have never had to have a dog anesthetized for having her hips done until Jammie went in recently. She would not lay still no matter what we did, so he gave her a tranquilizer called xylazine. She wasn't out, but limp as a dishrag. It wore off quickly, and the experience was a positive one so I thought I would share with my list mates.
