hi diane,
after explaining all the same reasons carol just gave, i usually tell people
that if they want to give it as a xmas gift, to put a picture of the puppy
under the tree, along with crate, toys etc. and then pick up the puppy after
new years. i also insist on meeting the prosepctive new owner before any
decision is definately made. sometimes the person receiving the "gift" has
no intention of adding a puppy to their lives. this is one reason i dont
have litters at this time of year. saves me the bother of dealing with it.
