My Nova is due to whelp in a week but I have set her box up already since
she has begun nesting behavior. I was out in the yard for half an hour and
came in with three other happy Cavaliers. As we entered the room with Nova
and the whelping box, Nova stood up and growled at the Cavaliers daring them
to enter! They turned tail and ran but I looked into the box and under Nova
was what had to be a four pound blenheim, all dried off and fluffy. I
panicked, never having seen a neonate this size and grabbed it in a towel to
weigh. Well....Nova's baby turned out to be a stuffed teddy bear she found
in the closet! My heart is still racing! And I think I am going to put
my glasses on before I come in the room from now on!
