Thank you for the abstract. It was interesting.
Yet my problem with the abstract is the subjective
nature of OFA. Reliability, which in research terms
means the chances that two vets will read the same
x-ray in the same way, is only around 70%. For
research purposes, it should be well into the 90%'s
percent range.
Second, the issue of how dogs are x-rayed (i.e.
angle) is also an independent variable. I am of the
view that OFA should go to a pass/fail system. The
fair/good/excellent ratings are far too subjective.
It is in my view quite misleading.
