I'm using debian sid. Mail is passed through amavis-ng + clamd for
scanning. Since last night upgrade everything worked well.
>From the last upgrade amavis stopped delivering mail and puts it into
problems dir. log says:

AMAVIS::AV::CLAMD: Unknown virus scanner output: Session(0): Time out
ERROR

clamd uses unix socket to communicate:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ll /var/run/clamd.ctl
srwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 2003-08-09 15:25 /var/run/clamd.ctl

I'm testing it with simple text mails and no attachments (i.e. mail -s
test [EMAIL PROTECTED])
It seems that clamd dies when scanning mails since I got this output
after the first scan:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ps aux | grep clam
root 964 0.0 2.7 10300 6956 ? S 15:25 0:00 /usr/sbin/clamd
root 965 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 15:25 0:00 [clamd] <defunct>
root 966 0.0 2.7 10300 6956 ? S 15:25 0:00 /usr/sbin/clamd

instead of (after killall -9 clamd and /etc/init.d/clamav-daemon
restart):
root 1268 0.0 2.6 10292 6916 ? S 16:10 0:00 /usr/sbin/clamd
root 1269 0.0 2.6 10292 6916 ? S 16:10 0:00 /usr/sbin/clamd
root 1270 0.0 2.6 10292 6916 ? S 16:10 0:00 /usr/sbin/clamd

clamav.log says nothing.

any hints?

thanks!
