In my case its approx 3 minutes. I just switched from 0.95.3 to 0.97
and before the database reload took about 50 seconds. I tried to
switch off the bytecode signatures, but that doesn't helped.
Maybe your system is swapping?

No, its not a memory issue. Its a Sun/Solaris system with 2 CPU's
and 2GB RAM and currently about 1GB free RAM.
Can I tweak a setting to reduce this time ?
Why is the reloading slower in 0.97 ?
Maybe I can try different compiler settings
(optimizations) ?
