We have funding for a biostatistical/statistical post-doc (immediate opening)
for work related to the NIH Roadmap Human Microbiome Project
(http://nihroadmap.nih.gov/hmp/).

Using Next Generation sequencing technology it is now possible to identify all
microbial species within a human tissue sample and relate the microbial
population characteristics to human disease.

Washington University is a leading player in this emerging field and
significant technical and statistical work is needed. This is a BIG SCIENCE
project and the successful candidate will be interacting daily with
statisticians, geneticists, genome sequencing center, clinicians, and numerous
other investigators. This is a high profile opportunity with interactions with
investigators at many other institutions around the US and world.

The successful candidate will develop and apply novel statistical methods for
analyzing massive amounts of metagenomic data. The candidate will be expected
to be lead author on publications, supporting statistician on other
publications, and contribute to grant writing. A major goal will be to get this
person to an independent investigator level and their own funding.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (No Exceptions):

1. PhD in statistics or biostatistics

2. Existing publications

3. Completion of degree (or completion within 3 months)

Before applying the candidate must contact Bill Shannon
([email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>) for a copy of an NIH grant that
outlines the type of problems the successful candidate will be working on. Your
cover letter must address this grant to some extent and how you understand the
problem and how you can contribute.

Thank you
