Since everything else has been answered adequately: as far as I can tell,
everyone here thinks it's important to get the project up to 1.2 status.
1.1 is just a stepping-stone to get us there. Most of the classes we have
written are up to 1.2 spec. Paul mentioned AWT support--1.1 itself is
already a gargantuan task. The other exception (that I know of) is
java.beans, which requires 1.2 java.lang.reflect and java.lang, which
requires 1.2 java.security, which is only partially complete right now as we
gear for release.
