Even if you hard coded the switch port settings at both ends, you may still have issues if you are using Cisco switches. Having both the card in the PC and the switch port set for auto negotiate will work best in most cases. Otherwise, as another contributor alluded to, you may be having ugly time outs and slowness that is causing your issue. Have you done a packet dump at the CAS end to see what is reaching it? Also check your vlan settings on each side of the CAS to make sure you don't have a switch loop. I did that once inadvertently and experienced exactly what you are seeing. Good luck.
