Today I installed Windows 7 Starter Edition (N) on a notebook but it
seems to be detected as Windows 7. The TAC claims it should be detected
as Windows_ALL. If I set Windows_7_ALL on my CAM to require the Agent,
the Agent is offered when I login via the web interface. If I change
Windows_7_ALL to not require the Agent, I can login completely through
the web interface!
When I view my login under Online Users on the CAM, the OS states
Windows 7, but when I view the TCP/IP stack signature, it says:
TCP/IP Stack Signature: Windows Vista [8192:128:1:52:M1460,N,W2,N,N,S:.]{ }
Has anyone managed to implement the work around just for Windows 7
Starter edition?

I opened a TAC case on this. There is a bug filed for this: CSCtd53424.
The Windows Starter Editions will be marked as Windows_ALL by CAM. The
workaround given by TAC is the same workaround below they had for Windows 7
which set up Windows Starter to use web auth and do not require agent:

TAC confirmed the custom check won't work for this as the agent won't install
at all.

Someone here posted that the Agent won't even install on Windows 7
Starter Edition, so a custom check isn't going to work. Is there a way
to even work around this?
We've been running the 4.1.6 Agent for some time, so I have no idea how
many of my students are running Win7 Starter (since there is no posture
assessment). They won't be very happy if we upgrade and it breaks their
access1
(Can't believe Cisco is so short sighted.)

This is by no means scientific, but the 15 top selling netbooks at bestbuy.com this morning all come with windows XP SP3 or Windows 7 Starter.
Dell's entry level netbook also comes with Windows 7 Starter. And HP's Mini 110 either comes with Windows XP or 7 Starter.
This is a major concern for educational institutions. We're going to have to
write custom rules/checks for student machines with 7 Starter or force students
to buy the windows anytime upgrade from Starter to Home Premium. I hope Cisco
addresses this soon.

CCA 4.7.1 lists Windows 7 Home Basic edition as supported. How prevalent
is Windows 7 Starter edition compared to Home Basic? Are Netbooks in
North America being sold with Home Basic or Starter?

I've noticed several machines running Windows 7 Starter that are failing
to work with the new NAC agent. The message the agent gives is "Agent
user operating system is not supported".
Other Windows 7 machines have been working fine.
Has anyone else seen this?
