4931425 actually requests exactly what I am thinking, but it was closed as a duplicate of 4431511, which is similar but does not specifically ask to be able to list probe targets in /etc/default/mpathd. Anyway, several of these have been sitting untouched since 2001 or 02 so I doubt anything is going to happen with this anytime soon... :-(
