Your "educated guess" was correct. I use a German keyboard. I now identified the correct key which produces the hyphen and login is now possible. > You could try ssh-ing into the virtual machine, as in this case the keyboard > settings will come from your local machine. Already done and it works as predicted. I don't need the "translated key" anymore via SSH.
