I don't think that my Clementine "stutters" as you posted, but it definitely, and almost 100% freezes for a while, when I have intense disk activity, like copying large files from my HDD to my external HDD, or to another computer through ssh (scp) ! Or other similar disk-intense activities (archiving a large folder also almost certain triggers Clementine temporary freeze). Maybe it's similar to you, too ?
P.S. I'm on a Linux computer (Opensuse).
