First just let me say this is the best of the best when it comes to music playing software with an Android remote program. This is simply some fine software.
That being said, there are a couple of things I would like to see. First, I have this on a "media computer" which has Emby, Clementine and a couple of other things on it for home entertainment. It is a Windows computer and it updates automatically. When it does and it reboots I have Clementine set to start with Windows. This works fine if it automatically logs on to Windows, but Clementine is not run if it's waiting for a login. It would be nice if Clementine were to start as a Windows service so I don't have to worry about logging on. Second, Clementine falls very short in one area and it's the same area all others fall short in, playlists. I'm getting the hang of it now, but at first it didn't seem straight forward working with playlists. One major reason for this is the lack of labeling. If you have only one playlist open the tab disappears, so there is no indication that the right pane is a playlist. I'm sure this was done to prevent users from closing the last playlist or something, but maybe add some labeling to say what the right pane is. Right now I am pretty sure it is always the current playlist, but I'm not absolutely certain of that. The confusion increases when I click on the "Playlist" button on the left and get an empty pane which tells me I can favorite a playlist by clicking the star icon next to its name. But I don't see it's name anywhere. I even saved this playlist as "Work". I have to create a new playlist to make its name show up so I can click on the star so I can see its name in the list. This disappearing tab thing was like half my confusion with playlists. Maybe just disable the "close tab" button instead of making the whole tab disappear. Also, I REALLY don't like the "Delete from disk" option when right-clicking a song in the playlist. It forces me to thoroughly read each option to make sure that I'm just removing it from the playlist, not deleting it entirely. When removing something from a playlist I should no more be able to affect the physical item than removing something from my grocery list would cause all of that item I own to be thrown out. I realize it's a convenience in rare cases, but I just don't like the idea that editing a list could cause me to accidentally affect "the real world". And finally, THANK YOU! This software really is just awesome. With my media computer at home controlling everything from an app on the phone, including volume, is just straight up cool and convenient. I tried quite a few media players for the office before settling on this one and the reason I settled on it is because it was so kick-butt for home use as well. The wife likes loud music while she cooks or cleans, so setting this up for her made for a happy wife. Thank you for that! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Clementine Music Player" group.
