If you want to request this sort of thing you are likely to get a better response via the github page.

In response to your questions though, first, get the latest version from github, either prebuilt for your system or download the code and compile it yourself, this is likely to be _much_ newer than the version you have from other sources. It seems from your comments that the native version (for Linux) works somewhat differently than the version you have for windows so it may be best if you open an issue on github for your enhancement requests.
