I rebuilt glibc using the patch in samba's BZ and it solved the immediate problem, Samba built and works perfectly AFAICT, including using WINS for name resolution (excellent on a mixed network like mine, and the reason I was building Samba at the time). As an added plus, I have yet to find anything obviously broken by the rebuild of glibc (patched) and the kernel afterwards. I hven't had the time to look into whether the patch was sent upstream, or if it breaks anything in either a 32bit or a multilib build, but it did work for my needs. -- Poison [BLX] Joshua M.
