I'm not the only one who overlooked that! :o) Might just as well use
strings as keys. But OK, try this:

      (apply hash-map
             (->> (str "{" (slurp "data") "}")
                  read-string
                  (map (fn [[k v]] [(keyword (str k)) v]))
                  flatten))
