Wouldn't that create a vector with N copies of the same agent?

Try:

(let [rainagents (vec (map agent (repeat num-raindrops nil)))]
>    (dorun
>     (pmap
>      #(send-off % draw-raindrop-fall g (rand-nth (range 0 500)))
