Something like this would work: (persistent! (reduce (fn [r x] (assoc! r x "-")) (transient {}) (range 100)))
Which is just: (reduce (fn [r x] (assoc r x "-")) {} (range 100)) ...but with transient applied to the input, and persistent! applied to the output.
