Brett Victor posted a video <http://bit.ly/1p8dmVM> for a new kind of maker space. Seeing inside behaviours, across time and across possibilities. Summary excerpt:
*"I think people need to work in a space that moves them away from the kinds of non-scientific thinking that you do when you can't see what you're doing -- moves them away from blindly following recipes, from superstitions and rules of thumb -- and moves them towards deeply understanding what they're doing, inventing new things, discovering new things, contributing back to the global pool of human knowledge."* With the success of LightTable <http://www.lighttable.com>, and Apple's upcoming Swift Playground <https://developer.apple.com/swift/>, I felt this was good food for thought. I personally see a trend to more immersive, intuitive development environments. Think Session <https://github.com/kovasb/session>, or Gorilla REPL <http://gorilla-repl.org/>. I'm also thinking of this recent contemplation (The Pain We Forgot <http://bit.ly/1nalkBj>) on symbolic, human representations of computation. Kind of a call to advance the state-of-the-art in tooling. So Brett and all these other good people are operating exactly along the lines that I'm thinking. I think it's really exciting. Hopefully people find this a useful resource.
