Yes, you could do that, but it could also do Bad Things. Namely if you have strings that match some of the format, it could be misinterpreted as Transit data rather than JSON, so I don't consider it a particularly useful solution either. It just moves where the problem can happen. :-( If there was a way to so "ignore the transit extensions", that would change things though.
