Hi Steven! I think all of those cases are covered in the reader reference' reader dispatch section: http://clojure.org/reference/reader#_dispatch
Basically when the reader encounters a '#' it does the appropriate dispatch action depending on what follows. As it is a special character handled by the reader it would not make a valid symbol character (To answer you original question).
