I have an ide drive with some bad sectors. I am trying to clone what I can to a new drive.
i used ntfsclone, i got 51.23% done, and didn't go any furthor. dmesg showed a bunch of IO errors - I could see that it had trouble reading sectors 10001, 10002.... 1000400. (or whatever the numbers really were.) after about 5 minutes on 1000400, I ran top, say ntfsclone using 99% of my p4-3ghz cpu. so I gave up. I hit ^C and ntfs exited. What I am hoping to do is copy from 100% down to 52% or whatever it can. Or if you think one of the other clone options will get past 1000400, I'll try that too. Also, when I try to mount the new drive/partition that got 51.23%, dmesg says: [ 785.349088] NTFS driver 2.1.29 [Flags: R/O MODULE]. [ 785.369140] NTFS volume version 3.0. [ 785.380290] NTFS-fs error (device sda2): ntfs_external_attr_find(): Base inode 0x9 contains corrupt attribute list attribute. Unmount and run chkdsk.
