some general IRC tips: - most IRC servers require ident and some computers behind firewalls have trouble with this, so make sure it is turned on in your IRC client config and accessible through your network.
- some clients who have host masks that can't be resolved can be denied access to a server. - many IRC servers only allow host masks that originate from certain netwroks/geographical locations. - Here's a link describing most common problems http://www.irchelp.org/irchelp/networks/connectprob.html Most problems I find can be resolved by either some network reconfiguration (if possible), bouncing your connection or researching the network you are trying to access (most large, major IRC networks have at least one server that you should be able to access).
