i use a linksys one.
its great.
if there was a way for me to look at the setup, could probably figure out what is wrong.

are you running dns services on your httpd server? (im not)
do you have your router/gateway running dhcp to the server, or static setup from the server side (static for me).

Yeah,
I have one of those SMC things. I have instructed it to "forward" requests
to my machine with apache but it doesn't seem to work. nmap says that all
the ports to the public ip are closed.

I don't have the router set up properly probably...
Thought I would check...

im using linux/apache/php, with shaw.... works fine.

do you have a router/firewall blocking shaw, so they can't see how many
computers you have connnected to the net?

Hi all,
I have the Shaw cable service, and I am hoping to host my own site.
I believe that I have apache etc all set up and DNS and so on...
What seems to be the problem is that I can't connect to the services
using the public IP.
Does anyone know if Shaw is blocking certain requests preventing running
your own DNS, http services?
