Thanks Szemir, and to everyone else that offered and provided lots of useful help in trying to resolve my posting to clug problems.

I "think" I have the problem figured out now, but have not determined a solution. I run sendmail as my MTA with the default pop and imap services on RH 7.3, all on my gateway/proxy/firewall. My "prefered" mail client is something called Mailstudio which is a web based client. I will need to find some other platform/location independant solution at some time in the future but I have lots of mail in Mailstudio right now and am not familiar with the various mail box formats and have not looked into whether I can easily move the mail to another mailbox format. Might be something simple but have not looked yet.

So now the apparent problem. Although sendmail is setup to masquerade as academic-computers.com domain, using the Mailstudio client puts bohf27vfy23rk.ab.hsia.telus.net in as the ctladdr:[EMAIL PROTECTED] in the mail header. The reply-to address works properly and if you hit reply to a message from me it will go correctly to [EMAIL PROTECTED]. And if I use any other mail client everything is fine. All reference to the from address is correctly set to [EMAIL PROTECTED]. It is ONLY when I use Mailstudio to send to clug-talk that the list server sees the ctladdr:[EMAIL PROTECTED] which does not match the [EMAIL PROTECTED] I signed up with and so tries to bounce it back to [EMAIL PROTECTED]. But I drop externally originating packets to port 25 so have not received the bounced messages. I re-opened port 25 this morning and got the bounced messages confirming that it is a email/domain missmatch.

I must simply take the time now to choose a different mailing solution that meets my needs so for now I guess I will use "LookOut!!!" Express under Windows or Sylpheed or Evolution under Linux to make my postings.

Thanks for your offer to install Linux. 9 out of 10 of my machines run one or another distro's of Linux and I have been running, playing, developing with Linux for almost 10 years (93 I think was when I first downloaded and compiled an early kernel version) and the installs are not a big deal. Have done literally hundreds.

I did show up at Nexus yesterday but it was busy, all the guys looked busy so I didnt introduce myself. I will certainly be at the next meeting so can meet you, and others, then.

Cheers and thanks again for your generous offers to help.
