Don't forget to tell them about Win4Lin.  www.netraverse.com  It will run 
almost everything a regular person would need.  Except DirectX so no Games, 
but office apps and photo apps work great.  It's not free and you still need 
a copy of windows 98.  But at least it helps bridge the gap.
