the smart home and ubiquitous computing has been promised for some 20 years
now. it has yet to arrive. why? because there are no compelling reasons to
move to such technologies. eventually someone will find a real solid use for
the tech and then it will creep into most houses.
chasing technology for technologies sake as a means to create market share is
a wild goose chase IMO. create techonology that does something you want and
will use every day. forget the rest, no matter how much the concept makes you
drool as a technophile.
