4.5 years since the trial began, something I have followed closely from the begining, it will officially be over tomorow when Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly issues her ruling (after the markets close for obvious reasons) on the MS Antirust Trial. This ruling (to accept the previous settlement with the Justice dept or impose more stringent restrictions based on the 9 dissenting states) could have a significant impact on alternative and competing software such as Linux. Cant wait to read the decision. http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/technology/AP-Microsoft.html Some background links for reference: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/tech/DailyNews/msdoj_index.html http://www.usdoj.gov/atr/cases/ms_index.htm http://www.usatoday.com/life/cyber/tech/2001-09-06-microsoft-chronology.htm http://www.moraldefense.com/Campaigns/Microsoft/Antitrust_FAQ/default.htm ________________________________________ Johnny Stork Calgary, AB Canada Open Solutions Open Source & Linux Solutions for Business http://www.open-solutions.ca Academic Computers http://www.academic-computers.com |
