So I still can't get a kernel to work.   I'm 99% sure that HJ is correct about me needing an initrd.  The documentation I can find seems to indicate that it is required for a Hardware RAID solution.  I'm not too sure why, perhaps I'm misunderstanding it all.   Anyways, I don't mind RTFM, but I can't find TFM.   Can anyone point me to "the frustrated moron's guide to building an initrd"?   Kev.
