that would be more the realm of User Mode Linux. simply root jailing won't
help much in this case if the problem is a lack of resources (e.g. RAM.. i'd
wager that the system is just getting into really nasty swap storms, what
with heavy image processing, only .5GB of RAM and possibly an early 2.4
kernel (RH7.0) with all those VM problems)...
