I've never done this but I understand you can simply convert .pst files
from proprietary glop to a real mail format.

1) get yourself a copy of Netscape (with all the mail trimmings) on your windows 
machine. Netscape mail has a function that will convert/ .pst to mbox format.

2) kmail uses the mbox format, dunno about evolution.

By the way, mandrake is probably an easier distro to start with IMHO.
