upgrade to KDE3. KDE's clipboard handling in the 1.x and 2.x series was 
different from most of ther X11 apps in subtle ways (largely due to the vague 
wording of the ICCCM standards, which everyone finally agrees on how it 
should be interpreted)... KDE3, GNOME 1.4 and 2.x, almost all Motif and most 
other X11 apps (except oddballs like nedit's occasional goofiness) now use 
the X11 clipboard consistently.
