Actually this is kind of funny in a depressing way. CBE committed to a wholesale move to Win2K. They started on it, but ran out of budget part way through. So now, they're making additional money to pay for the remainder by doing consulting work for other school boards looking to duplicate their success. That was last year. This year, they had about a dozen new Macs in place when the kids returned from summer holidays.
I had an instructor in one of my MCSE classes laughing about it. I went to a board meeting and suggested that I'd do a LTSP demo if they'd like. They could use the money they saved to pay the bussing fees everyone is ticked off about. They didn't even take my name, though a few parents asked me to be the leader of the parents side. (I said no). I'm trying to get the kids and teachers on side. Even though they don't set policies at the CBE level, if enough ask, it might open doors a crack, at least. Plus, these teachers will eventually be promoted, and then they will set policy. Kev. PS. My lurking co-worker has asked us to knock it off. 87 messages in the last 4 hours is too many. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jesse Kline" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, December 02, 2002 2:50 PM Subject: Re: (clug-talk) Linux Work > Quoting Kevin Anderson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > > He's just glad > > they're holding onto the Macs for long enough that he can learn Windows. > > > > Kev. > > What are you saying that they're migrating to Windows?
