Your first step, if you want to retain XP, is to either

a: Install a second hard drive to dedicate to Linux

b: Re-partition your existing drive to allow for 5-6gb (full RH install), or less if not installing everything.

The only non-destructive re-partitioning program I have used is Partition Magic, but others may exist.

Once you have the space allocated for Red Hat, anyone on this list, including myself, would be pleased to talk you through the install, or give more advice. The RH install (as well as most binary install), are no more difficult (withing reason) than any WIndows install, if not easier in some case.
