I've had an IBM 3583 Tape Library more or less fall
to me.
It's a slick little unit, which can shuffle it's
own tapes, and stuff. But I suspect it'll take more than a tar command to
make it work.
Does anyone have any experience with tape
autoloaders, or alternately, can anyone point me in the direction of a support
site where I might be able to find some instructions on how to accomplish
this?
I'll end up needing a fairly short list of
things.
I need to get tapes entered into the Library (Scan
the Barcode, and keep track of where everything is.)
I need to move a tape from in the Library to one of
the Tape Drives (By barcode)
I need to move data onto the tape
(TAR?)
I need to get the tape out of the drive, and back
to the library.
Lastly, I need to be able to eject the tapes from
the library.
